Helping tradespeople win at work
earwig was founded in 2017 by Harrison Moore based on his experience working on construction sites.
At earwig, we want to transform the industry by giving workers a voice and helping tier 1 contractors make their sites world class. To do this, we created our first product, Worker Feedback Club.
This is our story.
After finishing school in Sheffield, Harrison completed a JTL apprenticeship to become an electrician. But after setting up his own electrical company, the 2008 recession hit.
In search of work, he moved to London to help build the Olympic Village. Within a year, he'd enrolled at university to study art – his favourite school subject.
While doing his degree, he worked nights as an Electrical Supervisor on the London Underground, and then as an agency electrician on projects including Harrods, Sea Containers House, and Heathrow Airport T2B.
His experience of the problems construction workers face drove Harrison to create a business – earwig – that helped tradespeople find good jobs (and avoid bad ones).
earwig got its big break when Harrison was studying at the Royal College of Art (RCA). His business was chosen by the RCA's centre for entrepreneurship to receive funding to develop the concept.
After designing working prototypes, he won a place on the Bethnal Green Ventures (BGV) tech-for-good accelerator. earwig signed its first commercial agreement with a tier 1 contractor in 2020.
Today, we are a diverse, purpose-driven team who combine creativity with technology and unique construction industry expertise. Our goal is to make work really work for tradespeople everywhere.
